

Noe was born October 29, 1934, in Encino, Texas, to Francisco Chavana and his wife, Josephina Martinez Chavana, into one of the founding families of Brooks County. Noe was a life-long citizen of Falfurrias, Texas. He served in many capacities as a citizen of this community, including leadership roles in organizations such as the Falfurrias Burial Park and Falfurrias Little League.
Noe served in the U.S. Army as an officer. He was stationed in Germany and served from 1958 through 1962. Noe spent his entire working life in the banking industry. He began his career at the First National Bank in Falfurrias in 1955 and continued his service to the bank in various positions of responsibility until his retirement in 2010, including Executive Vice President, Cashier and Chief Operation Officer, being responsible for all bank operations, including broad executive authority, commercial and agricultural loans, personal loans, investments, cash management, personnel supervision, customer relations, and personal financial counseling. Noe married on July 2, 1960, to Maria Cristina Lopez. Noe and Maria have two sons, Ademar and Albar Chavana.
He is survived by his wife, Maria, his sons, Ademar and Albar, his brother, Erasmo (Epifania) Chavana, and his two sisters, Armandina Guerra and Alicia Jaime, as well as many nieces and nephews. Noe is preceded in death by his parents.
In 2013, after having been afflicted with six strokes, Noe and Maria left Falfurrias to live with his son, Ademar, in Buda, Texas. He struggled with the effects of the strokes, which left him confined to a wheelchair. On September 28, 2017, Noe was diagnosed with AML, a very aggressive form of leukemia. Eight days later, he was called by his Heavenly Father to rest in peace in the company of the saints and angels who encircle the throne of God Almighty.
Religious services will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. Rosary will be prayed at 8:30 a.m. at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. His body will be laid to rest following mass at the Falfurrias Burial Park. An additional Memorial Mass will be prepared at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda, where his eldest son, Ademar, has served as Minister of Music for the past 18 years.
The Chavana family wishes to thank the many, many friends and relatives who have been a source of great and comforting strength. Your prayers and well-wishes have eased the burden of losing a beloved husband, father and friend. May the soul of our faithfully departed husband, father and friend, through the mercy of God the Father, rest in peace. May perpetual light shine upon him as he basks in the presence of the Ever-living God.
