Octavio “O.R.” Rene Hinojosa entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 20, 2024 at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 70. He was born on December 18, 1953 to Pedro Hinojosa, Sr. and Celia Garza Hinojosa in Falfurrias, Texas. O.R. loved to sing and write song lyrics. His favorite line of one of the songs he wrote was “As I look out over the ocean watching the ships go by, take me away…take me away.” He could sing any genre of music from Tejano to Country to good old-fashioned Rockabilly without ever skipping a beat. His voice was strong, crisp, and clear and many would agree it was even spectacular.
He’s now in heaven playing music with George Paul Williams rocking and rolling with his brother, Pete, as his drummer.
Octavio is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Pete Hinojosa, Jr. and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Left to cherish his memories are his life partner for the last 15 years, San Juanita Madison and her children whom he adored, Jose M. (Xinia Caro) Garcia; Selina S. (Robert) Chapa and Sandra S. (Jacob) Sendejo; grandchildren, Jose A. Garcia, Ryan S. Chapa, Emma G. Chapa, Robert S. Chapa and Davia Chapa; great-grandchildren, Mariposa Alvarez, Xiolana Chapa and Monte Bleu Chapa; sister, Melissa (Rolando, Jr.) Carrasco; cousin who he considered a sister, Rena (James) Denham; niece, Angela Carrasco; nephews, Michael (Michelle) Carrasco and Robert Gerard (Sapna) Lozano; close cousins, Margo (+Mario) Delgado, Melinda (Tadeo) Reyna and Carlos Romero; his amazing caretaker and number one go to person, Isabel (Donny) Perez and her son, Nathan Perez and many more cousins, extended family members and friends.
Memorial Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Los Olmos Cemetery in Falfurrias.
