Onofre Serna, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at a hospital in Laredo, Texas at the age of 93. He was born on January 25, 1930 to Rumaldo Serna and Wenceslada Garcia Serna in Rio Grande City, Texas. Onofre is a United States Army Veteran and worked as a barber for 50 years before his retirement.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents; wife, Eloise C. Serna; son, Onofre Serna, Jr. and siblings, Enemorio Serna, Adan Serna, Eliboro Serna, Servando Serna, Amelia Zuniga and Maria Luisa Mendez.
Onofre leaves behind many fond memories that will be treasured by his sons, Rumaldo (Cynthia) Serna of Pflugerville, Texas, Servando (Sandra) Serna of Laredo and Ignacio (Marissa) Serna of Hebbronville, Texas; daughter, Maria Isabel Serna of San Antonio, Texas; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville with Visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Burial will follow at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
