Oscar Chapa, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at a hospital in Laredo, Texas at the age of 78. He was born on January 30, 1940 to Pantaleon Chapa and Guadalupe Beltran Chapa in Realitos, Texas. Oscar worked his entire life in the oilfield industry and on the ranch until he became disabled due to an illness. He enjoyed spending time barbequing with his family, hunting and making his daily rounds visiting with loved ones. He loved anything involving horses, and being outdoors. Oscar was especially fond of his trips to the horse races and to the ranch with his compadre/brother Esteban Saenz.
He was welcomed into the gates of Heaven by his parents; granddaughter, Margo Palacios and three brothers, Homero, Osberto and Olivero Chapa. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife, Berta G. Chapa of Bruni, Texas; sons, Oscar (Veronica) Chapa, Jr., Olivero (Priscilla) Chapa, Sr., Orlando (Ana Laura) Chapa and Osvaldo (Belinda) Chapa all of Bruni, Texas; daughter, Yvette (Alberto) Alvarez of Laredo; brothers, Onofre (Hilda) Chapa of Arlington, Texas and Guadalupe (Aida) Chapa of Banquete, Texas; sisters, Oralia (Roberto) Gutierrez of Oilton , Texas, Ofelia (Policarpio) Vasquez of Freer, Texas and Odilia (Arturo) Hernandez of San Antonio, Texas; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and best-friend whom he saw as a brother, Estevan Saenz of Bruni.
Pallbearers will be Oscar’s grandsons and best-friend.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Hebbronville with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville. Burial will follow at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
