Oscar Escalante Sr.

Oscar Escalante, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at a hospital in Edinburg, Texas at the age of 75. He was born on July 22, 1939 to Adolfo Escalante and Juanita Garza Escalante in Encino, Texas. Oscar was a cowboy who worked as a Ranch Hand for the Cage Ranch for over 47 years. Oscar was known for being dedicated to his family and his job. He was so proud to be a father and “Welo Cowboy” to his grandkids. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and they loved to play jokes with each other.

Oscar was welcomed into the gates of Heaven by his parents; his wife of 42 years, Gloria Irma Jasso Escalate, his brothers, Hector and Alejandro Escalate and his brother-in-law, Jose Garcia.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories his three sons, Oscar (Norma) Escalante, Jr., Osbaldo Escalante and Orlando Escalante all of Falfurrias, Texas; three daughters, Cynthia Escalante (Alberto T.) Martinez of Alice, Texas, Leticia (Rene) Reyes of Encino, and Lisa (Homer) Esquivel of Falfurrias; one brother, Emilio (Norma) Escalante of Encino, one sister, Aurora Garcia of Encino; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Burial will follow at the Rose Garden Family Cemetery on S. FM 2191 in La Parita-Falfurrias.
