Robert Charles Allen, Sr., age 87, entered eternal rest on Monday, September 8, 2025, at a hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on August 12, 1938, in Premont, Texas, Robert was the beloved son of Ben Allen, Sr. and Rosa Johnson Allen. He married his sweetheart, Mary Ann, and together they raised two sons, Bobby and Randy. After many years as a widower, Robert found love again with Joan Nelda, and through that union was blessed with three stepchildren: Mike, David, and Terri.
Robert was a man of abundant strength and boundless warmth; he spent many years serving as the Foreman of the Tyler City Municipal Rose Garden. Here he tended to nearly 14 acres of over 300 varieties of roses with the care and devotion of someone who understood that beauty grows best when nurtured with patience and love. It showed he had an appreciation for beauty in all its forms. But it wasn’t just the roses that flourished under his watch, it was the people around him, too.
Robert was a true cowboy at heart, known for his resilience, wisdom, grit and unmistakable charm. Humor was his love language, and he shared it generously with everyone he met. Whether through a playful story, a hearty laugh, or a quick-witted joke, Robert had a gift for making people feel instantly at ease. His laughter echoed through rooms, his lessons lingered long after the conversation ended, and his love was the kind that made you feel safe, seen, and cherished. He never met a stranger. That’s not just a saying - it was his way of life.
Although we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he lived. His legacy lives on in the laughter he inspired, the lessons he imparted, and the love he gave so freely. Robert’s presence was a blessing to all who knew him, and his memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
As Robert entered God’s Garden, he was reunited with his parents; his wife, Mary Ann Allen; second wife, Joan Nelda Allen; brother, Ben Allen, Jr., and stepson, David Bracksieck.
Remembering him always are the family he leaves behind: his sons, Robert “Bobby” Charles (Abigail) Allen, Jr., and Randy Clay (Julia) Allen both of Premont; stepchildren, Mike Bracksieck and Terri Bracksieck; stepdaughter-in-law, Esmi Bracksieck; long-term companion, Belinda Swann; grandchildren, Randy Clay (Clarissa) Allen, Jr., Mary Ann (Alberto Rivas) Allen, Jennifer Allen (Lucas) Perez, Robert (Tilden) Allen, III, and Mary Elizabeth (Michael Cates) Allen; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends.
Please join us as we honor Robert’s life with a Memorial Service being held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams with Visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m.
