

Rodrigo Cantu, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at his residence in Falfurrias, Texas at the age of 89. He was born on March 13, 1925 to Pedro Cantu and Guadalupe Salinas Cantu in Encino, Texas. Rodrigo enlisted into the United States Army at the age of 18 where he proudly served his country during WWII. He later worked as a Pot Tender for Reynolds Metals Company for over 20 years. Rodrigo was welcomed into the gates of Heaven by his parents; his wife of over 60 years, Aurora Perez Cantu; his son, Rodrigo Cantu, Jr. and his siblings, Jose Angel Cantu, Reynaldo Cantu, Lydia Garza, Ester Flores, Reyes Cantu and Baldo Cantu. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his son, Roel P. (Maria Luisa) Cantu of Weslaco, TX; two daughters, Elia (Joe) Trevino of Alice, TX and Elma (Frank) Gallegos of Gregory, TX; two brothers, Hesiquio Cantu of Robstown and Ramiro ( Alicia) Cantu of Falfurrias; four sisters, Isabel Perez, Patsy (Tony) Martinez and Olda Cantu all of Port Lavaca, TX and Olivia Rubio of Corpus Christi, TX; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams with visitation to beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias. Burial will follow at the Cantu Family Cemetery in Encino, Texas.
