Roel “Winche” Mendoza, entered into eternal rest on December 20, 2022 at his residence at the age of 77. He was born on May 31, 1945 in Zapata, Texas to Elsa Gutierrez and Eulogio Mendoza. Winche attended Hebbronville High School and graduated in 1963. After he graduated he attended Barber School in Corpus Christi, Texas. He worked for Mobil Exxon Corp. and TxDot before his retirement on August 2005.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Winche leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be treasured by his wife, Lourdes S. Mendoza of Hebbronville; daughter, Juana Inez (Mario) Serna; grandchildren, Marco Antonio Trevino II, Michael Archangel Trevino, Matthew A. Serna, Magdalynn A. Serna and Mirabelle A. Serna all of Corpus Christi; siblings, Carmen (+Roberto) Alvarez of Hebbronville, +Lauro (Ercilia) Mendoza of Dallas, Eulogio (Lesvia) Mendoza Jr. of Hebbronville, and Jose Antonio (Alice) Mendoza of Kingsville; brother in law, Rafael Lauro (Belia) Salinas of Zapata; numerous nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Filiberto Valderas, Isael Morales, Jessie Cantu, Alfredo Alaniz, Roel Pena, Juan Ruiz; Ramiro Hernandez and David Chavez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Marco Antonio Trevino II, Benita Mendoza and Ruben Alvarez.
Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 9:30 a.m. at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams in Hebbronville on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville and services will conclude with Burial at the New Hebbronville Cemetery in Hebbronville.
