The matriarch of our family, Rosabel “Rosa” Lopez Saenz, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at a hospital in Kingsville, Texas at the age of 80. She was born on May 27, 1944 to Placido Lopez and Eloisa Villarreal in Falfurrias, Texas. Rosa fulfilled her heart by being the best wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend she could be. She always made sure everyone was taken care of, wanted them present at every family function, which she loved being a part of.
Rosa enjoyed crafting, especially making keychains, coloring, crossword puzzles, playing solitaire and taking care of all her plants. She enjoyed watching western movies, especially John Wayne, and enjoyed watching her favorite NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys. She also was an avid player of the lottery, mostly scratch off tickets. Her wisdom and love will be cherished and never forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her parents; auntie who raised her since birth, Susana Lopez; brother, Gilberto Lopez; sister, Rene Alcala; granddaughter, Celinda Lee Gonzalez; step-grandchild, Naomi Perez and sister-in-law, Maria D. Lopez.
Rosa will deeply be missed by her husband, Pedro J. Saenz, Jr. of Premont, Texas; sons, Robert (Anna Salinas) Saenz and Tres (Desiree) Saenz both of Premont; daughters, MaryAnn (Elias) Arredondo of Premont, Virginia “Gina” (David Gonzalez) Saenz-Garcia of Beeville, Texas, Liza May (Israel) Perez of Premont and Jo Ann (Kevin) Amaya of Beeville; brother, Romeo Lopez of Fort Worth, Texas; sister, Lucy (Erasmo) Escobar of La Porte, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren with one on the way; her pet chicken, Sally Mae; numerous nieces and nephews and many extended family members.
Pallbearers will be Robert Saenz, Tres Saenz, Clarissa Gonzalez, Jared Garcia, Robert Arredondo, Nathan Ramsey, Cuatro Saenz, Isaiah Saenz and Johnathan Gutierrez. Honorary Pallbearers are John Arredondo, Timothy Ramsey, Jayden Garcia and Brayden Saenz.
Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Premont and services will conclude with Burial at the Premont Cemetery.
