

My incredible dad, grandfather, father-in-law and friend, Ruben Pena, 57 entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at a Laredo hospital. He was born in Laredo, Texas on September 19, 1968 to Domingo Pena Sr. and Maria Elena Fuentes Pena.
He loved seeing his grandkids play sports and talked about how they performed. Ruben was a hard worker from a young age he started working as a Heavy equipment operator alongside his dad and continued for many years. He also enjoyed cutting grass and volunteer cleaning the cemetery, if anyone would pay him he would donate it to the church. GO COWBOYS!!
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Ruben Pena Jr.; sisters, Maria Elena Leal and Frances P. Villanueva; half brother, Alfredo Fuentes, half sister, Hermelinda Duran
Ruben leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be treasured by his daughter, Leanne (Jesus Mendieta) Pena of Hebbronville; grandchildren, Adalynn Jenai Mendieta and Jesus Enrique Mendieta Jr.; brothers, Jose S. (Dolores) Pena of Premont, Domingo (Karen) Pena Jr. of Nevada, Reynaldo (Erica) Pena of Hebbronville, Victor (Rachel) Pena Sr. of California and David Pena of Chicago; sisters, Guadalupe P. Love of Dallas, Sandra P. (Johnny) Mugica of Austin, Cecilia P. Ramirez of Hebbronville, Laura P. (John) Trevino of Hebbronville and Diana P. (Pablo) Ramos of San Antonio; half brother, Domingo (Emilia) Pena Jr. of Laredo; half sisters, Delfina Zuniga of Loveland, CO. and Maria Perez of Henderson, CO. also many extended family and friends
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams, Hebbronville starting at 8:30 am with a Holy Rosary to follow at 9:30 am. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be at the New Hebbronville Cemetery
