

Samuel Torres passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at a nursing home in Hebbronville, Texas at the age of 84. He was born on June 30, 1933 to Ismael Torres and Ofelia Acevedo Torres in Hebbronville. Mr. Torres was a legendary Vaquero, he enjoyed representing the Vaqueros of Jim Hogg County in many parades, he was also an avid fan of the Hebbronville Longhorn football team.
Samuel was welcomed into the gates of Heaven by his parents; wife, Cristela Torres and siblings, Santos Torres, Lupita Martinez, Juanita Gonzalez and Ismael Torres Jr.
He leaves behind to cherish his wonderful vaquero memories his sons, Samuel (Rosanna) Torres, Jr. of Hebbronville and Gerardo (Patricia) Torres of New Mexico; daughter, Juanita (Luis) Mejia of Houston, Texas; brothers, Isauro Torres and Julio Torres both of Georgia and Jose Angel Torres of Skidmore, Texas; sisters, Dolores Torres of Fort Worth, Texas, Olivia Reyes of Zapata, Texas and Carmen Torres of Florida; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Salinas, Garret Rossi, Bryan Barfiled, William Barfield, Charlie Hellen and Rudy Gonzalez.
Holy rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Funeraria Del Angel Howard-Williams with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville. Burial will follow at the New Hebbronville Cemetery.
