With hearts full of gratitude for a life well lived, we celebrate the homegoing of Teresa P. Cano, who entered into the presence of the Lord on January 27, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Teresa made her home in Kingsville, Texas, where she devoted her life to God, family, and prayer.
From the tender age of 12, Teresa answered God’s calling and began her ministry, dedicating her life to serving others and sharing His word. She was a true woman of faith, known for her unwavering devotion, her gentle spirit, and immeasurable prayer life. Whether in the quiet of the early morning or the stillness of the night, her prayers lifted up generations, covering her family and loved ones in the presence of the Lord.
She was welcomed into eternity by those who went before her: her parents, Pedro (Paulita) Pena; her beloved son, Daniel Cano; her grandson, Omar Rivas; her brother, Joe Pena; and her son-in-law Roel Rivas.
Teresa’s love was boundless, and her family was her greatest blessing. She is survived by her beloved children: Javier Pena of Kingsville; Eustolia Cano (Rogelio) Villarreal of Falfurrias, Texas; and Eva Cano of Premont, Texas. She also leaves behind her cherished sisters, Rafaela Martinez and Estela Pena, both of Reedley, California; 17 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren who will forever carry her love in their hearts. Additionally, she leaves behind her previous pastor, Manuel (Gloria) Garza of Kingsville, and her current pastor, Daniel (Melissa) Jimenez of Alice, Texas, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will deeply miss her presence.
To honor her life and legacy, a prayer service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at 6:30 PM at Templo Betel Asamblea De Dios, 628 E. Richard Ave, Kingsville, with visitation beginning at 5:30 PM.
A celebration of her life will take place at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at Funeraria Del Angel-Howard Williams in Falfurrias, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. She will be laid to rest at Falfurrias Burial Park, where her earthly journey will conclude, but her spiritual legacy will live on forever.
Teresa P. Cano was a beacon of faith, a pillar of strength, and a testament to God’s grace. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and prayer that will continue to guide and bless those who knew her. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will forever dwell in the hearts of her family, her church, and all who were touched by her life.
