Thomas Oscar Garza passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021, in the presence of his loving wife, at his residence in Falfurrias, Texas at the age of 82. He was born on October 26, 1939 to Carmen Garza and Rafaela Chapa Garza in Falfurrias, Texas. Oscar, as most people referred to him, proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and dedicated 22 years of service to his country before his retirement. He held the rank of Technical Sergeant and was a Computer Analyst. After retiring from the military, Oscar became the owner and operator of Oscar’s Appliance Repair-Heating and Air for over 22 years. He was a member of the VFW and the Knights of Columbus in Falfurrias.
Oscar married the love of his life, Ludivina Guerra in 1960 and together they had four children. During his time in the Air Force, he loved to travel and was able to see many different countries and states with his wife. He had a passion for hunting and fishing. His sense of humor was one like no other; the silly jokes were endless. He was a great father who was always available for his children whenever they needed anything. For his community and clients, he was very considerate and generous. Oscar was also a person who was always prepared.
Oscar is preceded in death by his parents and his only sister, Ninfa Ogdee.
Oscar is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ludivina Garza of Falfurrias; sons, Thomas Oscar Garza, Jr. of Falfurrias and Jeffery M. Garza of Columbus, Ohio; daughters, Gilda Ann (Guy) Womack of Houston, Texas and Luann (Ruben) Garcia of San Antonio, Texas; one grandson, Grayson Lee Womack of Houston and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Rosary will be prayed at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Falfurrias with Military Honors to follow outside the church. Burial Service will be private.
