Our beloved mother, Valentina Hinojosa Ramirez, a long-time resident of Premont, Texas was called home by heaven’s angels on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at a hospital in Kingsville, Texas after living 97 beautiful years.
Valentina was born on Valentine’s Days in the year 1922 to Juan B. Hinojosa and Ester Hinojosa in Penitas, Texas. She married the love of her life, Delfino Ramirez, Sr. and together they had four children.
Valentina was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
She was an avid prayer of the rosary and was a very spiritual person who was very faithful to her religion. Her children were instilled with their faith from her example. She cherished being at all her grandchildren’s sporting events and cheering them on in the stands. She loved gardening, cooking and sharing her cooking recipes with the entire family. Valentina was a talented seamstress who was sought out in her community for her great work. She was also well known for her tamales and pan de polvo.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Delfino Ramirez, Sr.; son, Delfino (Olga) Ramirez, Jr.; siblings, Guadalupe Salazar, Juan De Dios Hinojosa and Antonio Hinojosa; three grandchildren, Jim Omar Alarcon, Lori Jean Alarcon and Javier Benavidez, Jr. and one great-great-grandchild, Jaiven Ray Perez.
Valentina is survived by her son, Daniel H. (Gloria) Ramirez of Bay City, Texas; two daughters, Delia R. (Jose Omar) Reyes of Kingsville and Dora R. Trevino of Houston, Texas; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-two great- grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Delfino Ramirez, III, Danny Ramirez, Roberto Ramirez, SGT. 1st Class Francisco Trevino Jr., Aaron Cabos and Ryan Hinson. Honorary Pallbearer will be Matthew Cobos.
Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the Funeraria Del Angel Howard Williams in Falfurrias with Visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at the St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Premont. Burial will follow at the Premont Cemetery.
