

Velma grew up in Clio and graduated from Clio High School. She dedicated 25 years of her career to General Motors, before retiring in 1993. Velma cherished spending time with her family, enjoying activities such as family camping trips, teaching her grandchildren how to cheat at cards, and spending time at the cabin. She also had a passion for reading, listening to her favorite music, and doing puzzles.
Velma is survived by her children: Vicki Storms, Don Dummer, Kelly (Mike) Borzi, Steve (Lori) Storms, and Trina Fortney (Dale Curtis), along with a very special niece, Debby Zofko. Her grandchildren; Michelle, Greg, Elise, Michael, Catherine, Cassidy, and Steven, and she leaves behind great-grandchildren Elliott and Evelyn. Velma is also survived by her brothers, Richard Kaake and Daniel Kaake.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, daughters; Debby and Laureen, sister Marie, brothers; Homer, Russell, Lloyd, and Donald, and her parents, Elmer and Mona.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery in Mount Morris, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesee Animal Control in memory of Velma.
