Barbara Jane Trinka (nee Mullenbach), born April 17, 1928, passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 31, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Edward Trinka, and her sister Rosemary. She is survived by seven children: Carrie (William Browner), Jill (Craig Hamilton), Terence (Joan Halleran), Timothy (Mihong Jung), Thomas (Denise LeGrande), Gail (Michael Rosenow) and Mark (Bernadette Diaz). In addition, she is survived by 11 grandchildren, her sister Judy, and brothers Robert and John. A service will be held at Ascension Catholic Church in Oak Park on Saturday, January 5, 2012 at 10 am, followed by a luncheon memorial at the Oak Park Country Club. She was born in Oak Park, raised her family in Riverside and enjoyed Austin, Texas for 20 years before returning to Oak Park in 2009. She received her undergraduate degree from Rosary College and a masters in American Studies from Northern Illinois University. She was employed in the Chicago Public Schools for 18 years teaching elementary school reading skills in the inner city. She enjoyed book clubs, bridge, running and hiking. Her love and commitment to the arts was inspirational to her family and community. She will be missed by so many.
