Darlyn Joy Haussmann, born on August 18, 1941, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025, in Crossroads, TX. She was born August 18, 1941, in Oak Park, IL, to Robert Otto and Shirley Doris (Hoy) Krieger. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a giant heart.
Darlyn was a woman of many passions, most notably her love for animals. She was an avid collector of poodle memorabilia, and a frequent supporter of animal rescue organizations, and she was known as Mom at The Big Doghouse. Her mind was a marvel; she was a voracious reader who famously could read three books simultaneously without ever losing track of the story lines. When she wasn’t lost in a story, she was conquering crossword puzzles or competing from her couch during Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.
Darlyn was loyal to her home teams but never watched them on television as she felt there were too many sports on. If you turned on a light, she was right behind you turning it off. Up until last year, she still used the old-fashioned TV Guide, and till this date, she still carried a flip phone. Darlyn was super organized and believed in simple things. She made sure everything was in order up until the time of her passing, to ensure her kids could move forward without her. She found joy in the simple things: watching birds, enjoying a Whataburger or a meatball sandwich, and celebrating every holiday with exuberant decorations. She often donated to animal rescue organizations.
