Douglas George West, U.S. Marine Veteran, age 74, of Berkeley, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. Douglas was a graduate of Western Illinois University with special honors, Phi Kappa Phi. He was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps., where he attained the rank of First Lieutenant. Doug was a devout Christian and regularly attended services at the local V.A. Hospital. He continued to support his fellow veterans by providing food and clothing at food shelters and other various places. Douglas loved his uncle Clarence and aunt Anne, and his cousin Roger. He appreciated all of their support during his lifetime. Special thanks to Ella Hopkins for her care over the years for Douglas. She is a Christian and a Saint. Douglas was blessed to have her in his life. At his request, his burial will take place privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Arrangements entrusted to Woodlawn Funeral Home, Forest Park.
