I've known Evelyn  for 30 years. When she joined The Bruss Company as a Customer Service Representative I was very fortunate to have her as my contact. During the next 9 years she was my anchor as I tried to develop and grow our business in Canada. 

As I reflect on Evelyn, I don't think any of us ever realized how she could remember every piece of detail such as new accounts, who the buyer was, what distributor they used, what products they were buying,  and so one. As a result of  her contribution and devotion to the success of our business, it afforded me the opportunity to be asked to come to Chicago and run the business for 15 years until I retired.

One other important responsibility that Evelyn had, was  the customer service activities of LongHorn Steakhouse, our largest customer. She would single handedly deal with all buyers and distributors, gather all the details and then communicate this information to our operations team. They would be at her desk listening attentively and collecting  the information to ensure they could execute to her direction on what LongHorn needs were. And dare any of them not pay attention. She had the stare! I used to observe this from a distance and often thought. Boy she could run this place. (She actually did). For Evelyn, she gave 100% plus while at work but when the day was done her devotion was to her family.

Michael I have known you since you were 13. I remember your mom telling me about the school trip your were taking to Canada at that age. She was so worried about you going to a foreign country. She gave me your itinerary. I told her I lived very close and  to give you my number in case you needed anything. What I didn't tell her I was lived a 100 miles away. That was your mom. Family first, but Bruss was a very close second.

Evelyn. You are loved by all. We will miss you.

My heart goes out to Evelyn's family , During this time of loss, I want you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Your mother's  spirit will forever shine through you, and her love will continue to guide your path.

 Evelyn was my co-worker and friend since 2011, after I started working with her we became very close friends , she was my lunch partner for over 7 years  and we laughed and talked  about our kids  and family till she retired.  She was like family to me and my family , Evelyn will truly be missed by us and those that loved her.  I pray God's grace will comfort her son Michael, Millie  and her beautiful grandkids.  I pray your happy memories of your mom will help you through this difficult time.

I was lucky to meet Evelyn in 1996 through Jake Hirt. Because of our business dealings we talked once a day, because  we had so much fun talking, we spoke another two or three times a week.  Evelyn taught me about “work” families and she was my first “work” sister. 
We laughed so easily together even though I was a customer, on the phone and. a thousand miles away. I trusted every thing she told me even though she was in the meat business. 
    Evelyn was a wonderful person. She gave a great hug and she always had a smile in her pocket. When  you had become Ev’s friend, you were friend for life.  Losing her so soon could not have been in anyone’s plan. Chicago will not be the same to me, ever without her.
I know how much she adored her son, so for him I pray that he can keep Evelyn close in his heart as I will.  She truly was a Gift from God.
