Guadalupe was born on May 28th 1961 in CDMX , to dear parents Juan Mena and Luisa Gonzalez.
As a beautiful little girl, she grew up in El Rosario, Azcapotzalco CDMX where she spent her teen years learning the life and responsibilities of an adult at a young age. Completing elementary education and years later being admitted in nursing school, she tried her best to keep her dream alive, but the lack of economic resources and support made her quit . That didn’t stop her helping others, applying everything she learned and put it in use anytime someone needed help. She lived a few years in Maravatio, Michoacan where she impacted a lot of people with her charismatic presence before moving to her favorite place, the beautiful city of CHICAGO, IL where she finally accomplished her most desired dream….be with her family together again and forever.
She started her family in her early 20's and dedicated her life to building a beautiful family and committed herself to take care of them in every way possible. She did not fall short in that promise to herself and her family.
She raised Sergio Maya, Mauricio Maya and Guadalupe Maya with all the values that she had in herself. Always proud and their #1 fan, she was the happiest, celebrating every little and big accomplishment from her children and was always pushing them to be a better version of themselves with the love and care only Matita can give and inspire.
She enjoyed going to the movies, cooking for her family, taking care of her grandchildren, singing, dancing, the beach, live concerts, spa days, cruising in the city but over all the things, she was the happiest spending time with her children doing just anything, from a nice chat to a crazy night just laughing about themselves and life events in their lives 😊
Guadalupe was a dreamer known for her random smiles, kindness, compassion, and unconditional love for her children. Often described as “everyone’s Mom” an “ Angel on earth” who cared about others before her needs. She became a fan of sports due to crazy gatherings with her children from soccer, gymnastics, boxing fights and lately UFC 😊. Above all, she cherished time with her loved ones.
On April 22nd 2026 she was admitted at Stroger Hospital in CHICAGO, IL where she lost her battle to cancer. Even in that situation she stole every single person’s heart who cared for her at the MICU. Matita and her family will always be grateful for the efforts that the whole team showed for her in this fight , they were never left alone in this because of their care and support. They named her “the baby of the ICU” 🫶
She passed away the morning of June 12th of 2026 in peace in the company of her always and forever beloved children Sergio, Mauricio and Lupita.
REST IN PEACE IN THE REIGN OF GOD AND NEXT TO HIM, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN!
