

John J Espinoza was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was trustworthy and traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships. He was tough-minded with the kind of “stick to it” attitude that earned the respect of all who knew him. He was also a man who was meticulous, carefully disciplined, and orderly in virtually everything he undertook. Realistic about life, he was always at the ready, prepared to take on responsibility.
He was the son of Adolph and Mary Espinoza. John grew up in Chicago, Illinois.
John was raised with four brothers and four sisters. He had older brother Adolph Jr., younger brothers Eddie, Benji, and Matthew, older sister Normie, younger sisters Mary, Sally, and Diane. John was usually involved in all sorts of activities with his siblings. He and his siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.
Always considered a “good” friend to those he knew, John enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during his lifetime. Later in life, he became friends with everyone from the Warehouse, all the DJ's, from the clubs and Radio Stations, and very many people from Facebook.
On August 2, 1975 John exchanged wedding vows with Norma Irma Aguero at Epiphany Church of Chicago, Illinois. Empathic and loyal, John was committed to making his new family happy.
John worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. John was blessed with three children, two daughters Priscilla and Lisa and one son J J Jr. Another blessing for John was the gift of two grandchildren, Amanda Cruz and Richard Escobedo Jr.
John was an Army. He was stationed in Germany. His fellow soldiers viewed him as a brother in arms and knew that he was as much a part of their family as their loved ones back home.
John enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were manager of the Night Club The Warehouse. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.
John passed away on April 12, 2010 at Loyola Hospital in Proviso Township, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Norma, his children Priscilla, Lisa and J. J. Jr.: his grandchildren Amanda and Richard; his Son-in-Laws Richard and Raymond. Services were held at Woodlawn Funeral Home. John was laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park, Illinois.
Simply stated, John was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. John leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember John J Espinoza.
