

JOHNNY KING was born to Jennie Mae King on July 12, 1933, in Macon, Georgia.
He received his education in the Macon Public School System. He graduated from High School in 1951.
Johnny served in the Korean War between 1950 -1953 in"C" unit.
Johnny was employed by Chicago Baking Company also known as Butternut for over 36 years, retiring from Butternut in August 1999 at the age of 66. In October 1999, He became employed with 199 East Lakeshore building Corporation for over 21 years until retiring again.
Johnny was a proud and active member of Bachelors and Benedicts Chicago's Ace of Clubs, in 1977, where he received several awards for outstanding club member and highest ticket sales.
Johnny loved to fish and bowl, he started bowling in 1970 where he received many trophies and awards from several different leagues, where he built lifelong friendships and lasting memories.
Johnny was never one to sit still, he found joy in life's simple pleasures --- casting a line while fishing, rolling strikes at the bowling alley, or traveling to casino's trying his luck. But above all Johnny will be remembered for his unwavering dependability, his trustworthy nature and his commitment to any task he took on.
Johnny King, affectionately known as "JK", passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, just days after celebrating his 92nd birthday.
He was cherished by his two daughters and two Sons, he was a loving father to Arlene B. Foster, Johnny E. King Jr. who preceded him in death, Jeannette D. Holmes, and Ronald C. King, he was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren. Johnny's warm spirit also touched the lives of many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Johnny reunites with his beloved Mother, Jennie Mae King, his Brother, Coleman Sanders, his Son, Johnny King Jr. and his Soulmate, Marshallene Spires in heavenly peace and tranquility.
To know Johnny was to know true friendship, loyalty and love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.
A memorial visitation for Johnny will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, IL 60130, followed by a Celebration of Life from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Information 708-442-8500 or www.woodlawnchicago.com
