

Born in Aurora, Illinois. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Annabelle and Donald Cogan and his brothers Michael and Edward “Lee” Cogan, and his wife, Barbara Cogan.
Survived by his siblings, Donald Cogan, Neila Teiber and her husband Norm, Jim Cogan and his wife Midge, Matt Cogan and his wife Dawn and Pat Cogan.
Graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Doctor of Medicine.
He was drafted into military service during the Vietnam war and served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps as a medic.
He worked as a coroner for over thirty years between Los Angeles County in California and Cook County in Illinois.
In memory of his son Daniel, who was lost to SIDS at a young age, he offered his expertise as a pathologist in defense of parents who had suffered similar losses and faced potential incarceration.
He was a devout Catholic who participated in choir every Sunday at St. Edmund’s Parish in Oak Park for several years. He also enjoyed mathematics and foldable bicycles.
Best remembered for his faith in God, his sober advice, and his self-deprecating humor.
Lovingly remembered by his sons, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren, Joseph Cogan, David Cogan, Jon Cogan and his wife Carina and their daughters, Aria Cogan and Lydia Cogan.
A visitation will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, located at 7750 West Cermak Road, Forest Park, Illinois, 60130, on January 30, 2026, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.
The chapel service will follow at the same location, starting at 12:30 pm on January 30, 2026.
Interment will take place at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleums, located at 1400 S Wolf Rd, Hillside, Illinois, 60162, on January 30, 2026.
