Lee was born in Chicago and attended St. Rita High School, graduating in 1975. He met his future wife Pamela in May 1988, and together they shared 38 years loving and sharing each other’s families.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Rita and Walter Skiba; his brother, Mark Skiba; and many other family members he held dear to his heart.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Skiba; his brother, Gary Skiba, and sister-in-law, Karen Skiba. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Tania O’Connor and Dan O’Connor and his wife, Lorena Pineda; and a beloved uncle to many cherished nieces and nephews, Beth, Adam, Amy, Steven, Carrie, Jennifer, Jackie, and Mark, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews. Lee was a proud and devoted grandfather to Nadia, Oliver, and Rocco, who brought him endless joy and were the light of his life. When asked how much he loved them, his answer was always, “Bunches and bunches.”
Lee dedicated decades of service to the Cook County Sheriff’s Department from 1982 to 2012. Shortly after retiring, in September 2012, he found a new rhythm working part-time at Hawthorne Racecourse. There, he combined his love for “the call to post” with the simple joy of staying connected to his track buddies, all while continuing to serve as a kind, fair, and exemplary employee of the Security Department for 14 years.
Lee’s greatest happiness came from time spent with Pam, his grandchildren, and his loved ones, and of course from hitting the occasional Pick 3, or better yet, a Pick 4.
