Maria V. Loredo passed away peacefully at home on October 15, 2025. She was surrounded and held by her family as they prayed, sang hymns and read scripture to her. She was 100 years of age, born on December 12, 1924 in Cd. Madero, Tamaulipas, Mexico, to Maria M. and Luis. She was an only child, and was gifted with a strong character, intelligence and a keen wit. Her loving husband of 68 years - Martin Loredo, Sr. - predeceased her, and she is survived by her children: Martin Jr. (Vita), Luis (Rosi), Elizabeth (Arnold), Rebecca (Rigoberto), eight grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She is also survived by extended family including her loving caretakers – her sister in Christ Nancy and her loving niece Norma. In addition, one of her Young Adult Sunday School students remained in contact with her and the family throughout the years, and she and her husband considered him another son, Arturo. Maria was a formidable woman of faith. She was a “Profesora Normalista” (teacher) in Mexico, and after obtaining her Bachelor of Arts and her Master of Education in the U.S., she eventually retired here after teaching in the field of Special Education for many years. She made a strong and positive impact on countless young lives with her instruction, discipline and tender care. She will be so greatly missed and lovingly remembered as a beautiful, great Mom with a fun sense of humor, who loved the Lord with all her heart. She and her husband loved to attend church with their children, to worship and sing praises to the Lord. They also instilled in their children a great pride in their heritage, but most importantly, a love for the Lord, emphasizing the importance of a personal relationship with Christ. They would quote 3 John 1:4 with joy, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” She did not merely talk about having faith, she lived it. She modeled faith at all times, but especially during difficult times in her life, which were many. She was at peace, and her life personified Psalm 118:1 “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Visitation and the Service will be held on Friday October 24, 2025, at Emmanuel Bible Church, 6630 Ogden Ave., Berwyn, IL 60402. Visitation will be held from 10am to 12pm and the Service of Celebration of Resurrection will begin at 12pm in the sanctuary. Interment: Oak Ridge Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois, Hillside, IL 60162.
