She was raised in Mexico, and immigrated to the United States in 1965 , and lived in Chicago, and Southwest suburbs. Coming from a large family, Maria was 1 of 15 siblings. She worked as a machine operator until the age of 50.
MARIA was a strong, independent, hard-working woman, that always wanted to learn and do more for her loved ones. She was not a mother who smothered you with hugs & kisses but beneath that tough exterior, was a warm loving person that truly cared about her family.
After her retirement she helped care for her grandchildren and volunteered at the neighborhood school. As a grandma she evolved into that loving, hugging, and affectionate person. Always known for her great cooking, MARIA would show her love by feeding her entire family. Whether it was for special events like holidays, parties or fore her grandkids after school, she would always cook plenty of food and made sure you had extra food to go. Safe to say, some of us are still caring around that extra weight because of her cooking.
At the age of 72, Maria suffered a stroke and became bedridden. She lived out the last 16 years of her life surrounded by family and under the care of her 2nd eldest daughter, Livia.
