Nancy Lee Mosley

Nancy touched the lives of many with her trademark spark, warmth, creativity, humor, and love, and will be held in deep affection by family, friends, and colleagues.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Nancy grew up as the youngest of four children of Selena and James Mosley, with older siblings James, Patricia, and Carol. After St. Louis, Nancy made her way to California and then Chicago, later residing in Oak Park, where her sister Patricia lived with her husband Dr. Robey McDonald and her three daughters Robyn, Melanie, and Kristin.

Nancy dedicated her career in the airline industry as an international flight attendant and in management with United Airlines, reaching a milestone professional achievement of over 50 years of service. Nancy’s travels took her far and near, across the U.S. from Chicago to New York to San Francisco and Hawaii, and to destinations around the world in Asia, Europe, Australia, and beyond. She always had a memorable anecdote, funny story, or unique gift to share with family and friends back at home. In her storied career, Nancy not only wore the wings, she had the honor to train and officially “pin the wings” on countless new flight attendants, including 50 years later her own niece.

Nancy kept a strong religious faith, greatly instilled in her by her mother Selena. Nancy’s spirit, her love of life – in travel, music, movies, food, beauty, teddy bears, laughter, and fun – and the love she gave to family and friends, will always be remembered.

She is survived by her sisters Patricia (Robey) and Carol (Alfred), siblings Kenneth (Patricia), Vernon (Le’Cresha), and Tammy, nieces Kimberly, Robyn, Melanie, and Kristin (Kevin), nephew William (Anjanette), grand-niece Cadence, cousins and other family members. She was preceded in death by her father James, mother Selena, and brother James.

Services will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park on August 29, 2026 at 2:30 PM. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s honor to Us Against Alzheimers at https://www.usagainstalzheimers.org which has a Center for Brain Health Equity and African Americans Against Alzheimer’s Network.
