Zajac, Stanley “Rabbits”, 87, passed away on October 9th, 2023. He was born on October 14, 1935. Stanley was a devoted son to the late Stanley (the late Stefania) Zajac; loving brother to Joseph (the late Ann) Zajac, the late Walter (Rosemary), the late Marian Zajac, the late Josephine (Ted) Hodor; loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Stanley graduated from Harrison Technical High School in 1955. He became a Private First Class for the United States Army 1958-1964 and received a Safety Award for driving test vehicles on the world’s largest Highway Research Project (Ottawa, Illinois). Stanley worked for Sears Roebuck as a manager, and retired in 1992.
Stanley had a love of playing softball and was inducted into the Chicago 16” Inch Softball Hall of Fame. At the young age of 16 he was a left fielder at Douglas Park (Chicago); that is when Stanley became known as Stan “Rabbits” Zajac. Stan played for Second Federal League, the Spartans and the Rocky Stars, who were managed by Hall of Famer and legendary manager, Frank Holan. Moving to the Bobcats to play with his friend and hall of famer Gene Hrabak from 1961 to 1966.
Stan’s pastimes were, as mentioned, playing softball at Douglas Park; bowling at Archer Kedzie Bowl and spending time with family and friends.
