Wally attended school in Lublin, WI and was the youngest of nine children. He was born on his family farm and worked there until being drafted into the U.S. Army. He trained as a tank driver and smiled when he talked about his tank experience. Due to family hardship, Wally returned to the family farm in Lublin. It was at this time, that Wally met the love of his life, Annie. They met at Sciezor's (pronounced Caesar) Bar and Ballroom in Lublin in 1957 and married on July 12, 1958. Wally and Annie moved to Addison, IL, where Wally found a job driving semi for Jewel T stores in Chicago for many years and also trained future drivers. It was near the time of Wally's retirement from Jewel T that he and Annie wanted a more conducive climate for later years. They chose to move to Spring Hill, Florida. Together, they built a house and began a lawn service business until deciding to fully retire. Upon Annie's passing in 2019, Wally wanted to move closer to family in Wisconsin and Illinois.
Walter was an avid bowler and belonged to a league in Florida. He and his wife were also very well known at several community restaurants in Spring Hill, Florida.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Stella, Mary, Lottie, Irene, and Wanda, brothers: Frank, Henry and Edmund. He is survived by brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Karin Hrywko and many nieces and nephews.
Wally and his contagious smile will be greatly missed.
