St. Paul says in Romans 6:4: WE WERE BURIED WITH HIM [CHRIST] BY BAPTISM INTO DEATH. In God’s eyes, all who have been baptized into Christ, including Alma Ramm, have been buried with Christ by this very baptism into His very death. In her baptism, Alma died when Christ died, and so she gets the benefit of that very death!
And just what is that benefit? THE ONE WHO HAS DIED IS JUSTIFIED—STANDS JUSTIFIED—FROM SIN. (Romans 6:7) When Christ died, justice was finally served. \Which means that for Alma—from the time baptismal water was poured over her, she died with Christ and sin’s price has been fully paid for her, all guilt has been removed from her, and she has stood right with God.
This, then, is God’s full verdict on Alma Ramm: She stood, each and every day, fully justified from sin.
But there is also God’s Promise! WE WERE BURIED WITH CHRIST BY BAPTISM INTO DEATH, THAT JUST AS HE WAS RAISED FROM THE DEAD THROUGH THE GLORY OF THE FATHER, SO ALSO WE MAY WALK IN NEWNESS OF LIFE. FOR IF WE HAVE GROWN TOGETHER WITH HIM IN A DEATH LIKE HIS, EVEN MORE WILL WE GROW TOGETHER WITH HIM IN A RESURRECTION LIKE HIS….IF WE HAVE DIED WITH
CHRIST, WE BELIEVE THAT WE WILL ALSO LIVE WITH HIM. (Rom 6:4, 5:8)
Yes, Alma was baptized. Yes, Alma died with Christ. Yes, Alma is righteous before God in Christ. But now Paul also tells us, we will also be raised up in union with Him on that last great and glorious day to receive a body congruent with His glorious body, to live forever within His new creation. That is God’s promise, and that is our, and Alma’s, Christian hope.
So today, we weep at the loss of our sister in Christ, Alma, — even as Jesus Christ our Lord wept with Mary and Martha at the tomb of their brother Lazarus. It is not wrong to weep!
But more, we REJOICE today, because Alma, in her baptism, stood justified from sin and because in that baptism, Alma received the promise of the glorious final resurrection, which now she can already glimpse.

"We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life." Romans 6:4
Laurie, Sheri, and Bonnie,
The death of a family member is hard to bear. We all are not facing this alone. God grants peace and comfort to His faithful. Aunt Alma's faith is my comfort and is yours as well. For she has received the ultimate gift: eternal life! Thanks be to God who gives us the victory over sin and death through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! 1 Corinthians 15:57

“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
Laurie, Sheri, and Bonnie, I pray that God gives you and your families comfort during this difficult time. Abide in Jesus and He will give you peace.

Lori, Sheri, and Bonnie, my prayers are with all of you and your families at this time. I always enjoyed Aunt Alma, Uncle Harry, and all of you growing up at a large family gatherings. Alma trusted in Christ. Her tears are now gone and her sorrows have been turned to joy. We are comforted in the confidence of the resurrection and the life of world to come. For as in Adam all will die. So also in Christ all shall be made alive! She is alive in Christ forever with Harry and the rest of our family. We all will be reunited with them.
