Amilieon “Millie” Alaya Partlow was born on February 17, 2003, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to her loving parents, Alfonzo L. Partlow and Tahesia Haralson. On October 2, 2026, at just 23 years old, Millie peacefully departed this life and entered into the arms of Jesus.
Millie began her educational journey through the First Steps program. She later attended Holland Elementary School, Blackhawk Middle School, New Haven Intermediate School, and New Haven High School before completing her educational journey at Woodlan Junior/Senior High School.
Those details tell us where Millie’s story began, but they could never fully explain who she was.
To know Millie was to know joy.
Millie experienced life differently than many people around her. She lived with cerebral palsy, quadriplegia, seizures, and other medical challenges throughout her 23 years. Her life required tremendous care, patience, and strength, but those challenges were never what defined her.
What defined Millie was her light.
She had a smile that was impossible to miss. It was big, beautiful, genuine, and completely her. When someone Millie loved entered the room, she did not need words to tell them how happy she was to see them. Her entire face would light up. Her eyes would brighten, her expression would change, and everyone around her could feel the joy she carried.
Millie knew her people, and she loved her people.
She communicated in ways that went far beyond words. You could see happiness in her eyes. You could see excitement in her expressions. You could tell when something caught her attention, when she was amused, and especially when she was surrounded by the people she loved most.
Millie loved music and could spend hours listening to it. She loved movies and anything she could actively watch, hear, and take in. She also loved to people-watch. Millie had a way of observing everything happening around her, taking in the faces, voices, movement, and activity of the world surrounding her.
And then there were her stuffies.
Millie loved her stuffed animals, and over the years she built quite the collection. They were tucked beside her, held close to her, carried with her, and became such a familiar part of who she was. To picture Millie is to picture that beautiful smile, her chair, and usually a stuffed animal somewhere close by.
Millie found happiness in some of life’s simplest and sweetest things: a favorite song, a movie playing in front of her, a familiar face walking into the room, children nearby, a new stuffed animal, or simply being included in the world around her.
She reminded everyone who loved her that joy does not have to be complicated.
Throughout her life, Millie endured things many people will never have to experience. There were doctor’s appointments, treatments, seizures, medical procedures, difficult days, and obstacles that required an extraordinary amount of strength.
And somehow, through all of it, Millie kept smiling.
For 23 years, she showed her family a kind of strength that did not need to announce itself.
Her strength was waking up and experiencing another day.
Her strength was continuing to find something to smile about.
Her strength was recognizing the people she loved and lighting up when they came near.
Her strength was finding comfort in her music, her movies, her stuffies, and the familiar world around her.
And her strength was allowing the people who cared for her to experience a kind of love they will carry for the rest of their lives.
Millie’s life was not defined by the things she could not do. Her life was defined by what mattered most: the love she gave and received, the happiness she expressed, the people she cherished, and the incredible impact she had simply by being herself.
But Millie’s story is not simply a story of loss.
It is a story of 23 beautiful years.
Twenty-three years of smiles.
Twenty-three years of music.
Twenty-three years of movies.
Twenty-three years of stuffies tucked beside her.
Twenty-three years of watching the people and world around her.
Twenty-three years of recognizing familiar voices and faces.
Twenty-three years of lighting up when someone she loved walked into the room.
And 23 years of teaching the people around her that a life does not have to look a certain way to be beautiful, meaningful, and deeply important.
Millie mattered.
She mattered to every person whose day was made brighter by seeing her smile. She mattered to every family member who cared for her, sat beside her, laughed with her, played music for her, watched movies with her, brought her another stuffed animal, or simply spent time in her presence.
She mattered because she was Millie.
Her family will miss her smile, her expressions, her personality, her familiar presence, and all of the little things that made a room feel different simply because she was in it.
But the love Millie created does not leave with her.
It will remain in every photograph where that unforgettable smile lives on.
It will remain in every song that brings her to mind.
It will remain in her favorite movies and in the stuffed animals that became such a special part of her world.
It will remain in every story her family tells.
And it will remain in the hearts of everyone blessed enough to have known and loved her.
Throughout Millie’s life, she was surrounded by individuals whose compassion, patience, and dedication made a lasting difference in her world.
Among those individuals was her beloved longtime caregiver, Nurse Jamie, who spent many years caring for Millie. Over time, Nurse Jamie came to know Millie in a way that only someone who had spent countless hours by her side could. She understood her expressions, recognized her needs, and became a familiar and comforting presence in her life. Her years of dedication, kindness, and compassionate care will forever be remembered and deeply appreciated by Millie’s family.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Aveanna Healthcare, Easterseals Arc, and IMP Support for the care, resources, and support they provided throughout Millie’s life.
To every nurse, caregiver, teacher, and individual who helped make Millie’s 23 years as beautiful and meaningful as they were, her family offers their sincerest thanks.
Thank you for seeing Millie for the extraordinary young woman she was and for treating her with the love, dignity, and compassion she deserved.
Millie leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Tahesia Haralson; her father, Alfonzo L. Partlow; her sisters, Angelic Haralson, Ariona Partlow, Ariel Partlow, and Alona Partlow; her brother, Jarrell Haralson; her nieces, Kamaya Haralson and Jalona Haralson; her nephews, Kalel Haralson, Ayden Partlow, Jeremiah Haralson, Larry Haralson, and Chosen Haralson; her aunt, Jane Partlow; and her cousins, Jessica Partlow, Darius Partlow, Dewayne Partlow, and Marissa, along with many other relatives, loved ones, and friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Alexiona Partlow; her grandmother, Armittie Lee Partlow; and her beloved godparents, Gilbert Thompson, affectionately known as “Big Daddy,” and Geraldine Thompson, lovingly known as “Jerry.”
Millie spent 23 beautiful years teaching the people around her something that cannot be learned from a book:
A meaningful life is not measured by what someone can or cannot do. It is measured by how deeply they are loved, how much joy they bring, and how permanently they leave their mark on the hearts of others.
Millie left that mark.
Although her family would have given anything for more time, they will forever be grateful for every year, every smile, every memory, every stuffed animal, every song, every movie, and every beautiful moment they were given with her.
For 23 years, Millie smiled through it all.
Now her family will carry that smile with them forever.
Rest peacefully, Millie. You were loved beyond words, you brought light into this world simply by being here, and you will never, ever be forgotten.
