

Barb was born on June 27, 1953, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to John and Leona (Larimer) Long. She grew up in Brighton, Indiana, and lived most of her life in Fort Wayne. After graduating from Lakeland High School in 1971, she attended Parkview Methodist School of Nursing and graduated in 1973. Barb spent many years working as a labor and delivery nurse at Parkview Hospital and retired from Dupont Hospital. She also spent time working as a traveling nurse.
Barb was a great nurse and a fantastic storyteller. She loved dogs and treasured the pets she had throughout her life. Barb enjoyed reading and journaling and she was an avid fan of Indiana basketball and football. She cherished her family and friends and was a kind and caring daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents and infant brothers, John Douglas and Robert Charles. She is survived by her brother, Bruce (Kathleen) Long; nieces, Heather (Chuck) Lane and Erin (Jordan) Brown; close friend and sister in Christ, Sandra Mott; great-niece, Kate (Brian) Culberson, and great-nephews, John, Chase and Ben Lane and Bode and Barrett Brown.
An open house reception to honor Barb will be held on September 12, 2026, from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Brighton Chapel, 5415 N State Road 3, Howe, Indiana.
