Barbara M. Parker

Barbara has a strong and unwavering faith in the Lord, and her faith was an important part of her life. She is now at peace and in heaven, reunited with her beloved parents, James "Jack" E. & Donna (Patton) Widmer.

Barbara dedicated much of her working life caring for and serving others. She worked in various medical offices and assisted living communities, where her compassion and genuine concern for others touch the lives of many. Barbara retired in 2013 from Emeritus Assisted Living.

Barbara graduated from Defiance High School, Defiance, OH - Class of 1965. She was a member of Defiance Chapter of Eastern Star; St. Joseph Township Fire Department Auxiliary; Kekionga Business and Professional Women's Club (Fort Wayne) where she held many position including President; United Methodist Women's group; and also deeply involved with the American Legion Auxiliary Post 47 (Fort Wayne) Barb held many positions including President followed by American Legion Auxiliary Post 178 (Garrett) also holding many positions along with President and District President 2009-2010, that all held a special place in her heart. Through her involvement, Barbara formed lasting friendships and devoted her time and energy to supporting veteran organizations.

Barbara's greatest joy was her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of almost 58 years, Gary Parker; her son, David Parker (Judy); her daughter, Debra Campos (Adrian) of Fort Wayne; her brother, James "Jim" Widmer (Diane) of Montgomery, Alabama; 7 grandchildren, Zach (Rebecca) Parker, Brittany Campos, Joey Parker, Krysta Campos, Jon Parker, Alexandria Parker, and Elizabeth Parker and 5 Great-Grandchildren, Peter Parker, Roman Campos, Erin Parker, Aspen Campos, and Aniya Parker.

Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched throughout the years. Though her earthly journey has ended, the love she shared and the faith she carried will remain a lasting part of her family's lives.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 10, 2026, from 1-4pm with the service starting at 3pm at the American Legion Post 409 (14133 Leo Road, Leo, IN). Pastor Keith Schreffler will officiate. Family and friends are invited to come together to remember Barbara, share stories, and celebrate the life she lived and the love she gave.

Memorial donations may be given to honor Barbara to any part of the American Legion family charity of your choice or Indiana Donor Network.
