So sorry to just now learn of David's death. He was one of my favorite cousins as a kid- so smart and funny. His dad and my dad, Raymond Wilkerson, were real buddies. I'm not even sure how we are all related, I think it is through our grandparents. My grandmother was one of the 8 Legg siblings.

Dave was a wonderful brother-in-law and uncle who we sadly lost too soon. He was a caring and thoughtful person who was always good-humored, and we will miss his laughter and wit. We will remember him most for his sweet disposition and kind spirit; he always had a smile and kind word for everyone. Forever inspired by his optimism and generosity, we will keep him in our hearts forever.

He was one fine professor in one of my last math classes needed before I graduated. I love the pictures! and the beard! He must have liked Professor Lipman's beard to start his! From one scout to another. GodSpeed!

As we are reading over all the lovely sentiments about David and his life, it is sad to not have known him beyond our childhood. As kids, we would stay at our Uncle Otis and Aunt Maryellen's house. We remember David would be in and out, most likely visiting from college and that he was a mathematician! We are sorry for your loss of a much loved, admired and accomplished man.

P.S. We both agree David has strong resemblance to another cousin, Larry (Jeanette's son).

Colette & family,
Our thoughts & prayers are with you. Dave was a great brother-in-law. He was always kind & helpful.
When I was in high school, he helped me with my math homework over the phone, as he did with our sons also. There was no math problem that he could not tackle & conquer.
We will miss his smile & witty remarks at family gatherings. He will always be with us in memory & spirit.

Honey you are the sweetest , kindness man I have ever known. You never wanted anything for yourself and always gave everything to your family. You never even got mad. We all know your life ended way to soon and your retirement was spent fighting a horrible disease. God must have really needed you since he took you to Heaven so fast. I hope and pray you didn't suffer in the last few hours. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. It's hard to say goodbye and I will miss you every day of my life! Remember during our wedding vows we never said , till death do you part, but, now and forever. I know you are watching over me and will be waiting for me so I will hang on to those wonderful memories we made until I see you again. I love you.

While I knew David only from a distance, he was always pleasant and helpful. He would carefully and clearly provide information about IPFW mathematics courses that I could readily use to advise my students. His clarity and patience enriched my role as a student adviser. He will be missed; my deepest sympathy to his entire family.

Dr. Legg was the first math professor I had at IPFW after transferring from Purdue where I had just had a very tough math semester with a not-so-good professor. I told him of my experience on the first day of class, and he was so kind! The whole semester when he would pause and ask if there were questions, he always made sure he made eye contact with me as if to ask if I was really doing ok with the material. I tell that story to this day. I am so sorry for your loss. He will be missed and remembered for a long time to come.

David was a good brother and a wonderful man whose love for and pride in his family was clearly evident. We will gain and maintain strength, comfort, and peace in the memories of the precious moments shared with him and knowing that he is with God, Mom, Dad, Grammy and Grampy and all those family and friends who were waiting to welcome him home. You may have lost a loved one on earth, but God gained a new angel to put in the position to watch over you and guide you all the days of your life. Though this chapter has been closed for now, someday you will open a new chapter when you are reunited and walk on the beach in the sunset in heaven with heavenly music playing. I pray that peace, love and strength be given to you now from the Lord above who will guide you through this and comfort you now and always.

The Plan of the Master Weaver~ Our lives are but fine weavings that God and we prepare. Each life becomes a fabric planned and fashioned in His care. We may not always see just how the weavings intertwine, but we must trust the Master's hand and follow His design. For He can view the pattern upon the upper side, while we must look from underneath and trust Him to guide...Sometimes a strand of sorrow is added to His plan, and though it's difficult for us, we still must understand that it's He who fills the shuttle. It's He who knows what's best. So we must weave in patience and leave to Him the rest...Not till the loom is silent and the shuttles cease to fly, shall God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why~ The dark threads are as needed in the Weaver's skillful hand as the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned. We will really miss Dave. I have some special memories that I will cherish dearly. Hugs~ Marie and Dennis James

I cherish the moments I had with him on my wedding day. He was so proud of me as he walked me down the aisle. It felt like it was just the two of us dancing to Blackbird for our father daughter dance. There was so much love that day.
Daddy went too soon, but he had a very full life with my mom and his children. He never had any complaints, just as long as his family was well taken care.
I'm so proud of my dad. I'm proud to call myself David Legg's daughter. It's hard knowing he is gone, but I draw strength from those wonderful memories we had together.
I'll always be your baby girl, daddy.
