David E. Mansell, 80, of Fort Wayne, went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, October 11, 2020. Born May 3, 1940 in Dearborn, Michigan, he was a son of the late William and Corinne (Evans) Mansell.

David graduated from Bentley High School in Livonia, MI, in 1958. He was a proud US Navy Veteran, who served for 4 years aboard the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier. He was privileged to be on the inaugural voyage that took him around the world. After serving his country, he worked at AT&T as a Quality Control Engineer and retired in 1996. In his free time, he could be found picking apples at Erwin’s Orchard with his wife, kids and grandkids, traveling to upstate New York to go camping with family and friends, and rooting for the University of Michigan on Saturdays. He also enjoyed attending car shows, air shows (especially ones that featured his Blue Angels of the US Navy), and traveling to Hawaii or taking a cruise. He enjoyed gardening and snuggling with his cats and dog, Trixie. He attended Pathway Community Church to worship his Lord and Savior.

David is survived by his wife, Linda Driesen; son, James (Cheryl) Mansell; daughter, Kristy (Brian) Vest; step-daughter Kristy Carsten; step-son Gary(Aimee) Driesen; grandchildren, Jessica Mansell, Daniel (Jennifer) Mansell, Alec Vest, Kaitlin Vest, Benjamin Mansell, Zachary Driesen, Lauren Driesen, and Nathan Driesen; great-grandson, Carter Mansell; brother, Chuck (Nacole) Mansell; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his previous wife Elizabeth Mansell and his brother Lowry Mansell.

RIP David! I just received a notice on Facebook of your passing and I wanted to pass my condolences onto the family and friends of David! We got to know Dave & Betsy from our church in South Lyon & we had many good times together! Also we had a very close connection with them as we were married on the very same day so in our anniversary day we would make a call or send a message saying congrats and many more years together. They were a wonderful couple who we enjoyed our times together. I will remember him forever and again I want to pass my condolences onto his family and friends I feel so blessed to have known them both!!!! RIP David Mansell & God’s Blessings! Love from Kathy Peters
