DON R. EWERS, 80, of Huntertown, died on Sunday, April 29, 2012, at Provena Sacred Heart Home, Avilla. Born March 12, 1932, in Fort Wayne, he was a member of Northside Missionary Church. He retired from International Union of Operating Engineers Local 103, where he had worked at Shambaugh & Sons and Fox Contractors as a heavy equipment operator. Surviving are his wife, Mae L.; daughter, Beverly Ann (Michael) Schmidt of Fort Wayne; son, David (Cheryl) Ewers of Huntertown; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lynn Ewers; parents, Kenneth and Sophie Ewers; brother, Walter Ewers; and half sister, Lola Schelper. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, May 4, 2012, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. Pastor Patrick Ryan officiating.
