

Donald Winston Courtney, 82, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Ashton Creek and Rehabilitation Center. Born on March 18, 1933 in Elnora, Ind., he was a son of the late Ralph and Laura (Taylor) Courtney. He proudly served and retired from the U.S. Army and was also a Food Inspector with the Indiana State Department of Health for over 42 years, retiring in 2003. He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Gary) Staley of Leo, Ind. and Cynthia (Gary) Archer of Fort Wayne; son, Kirk (Sue) Kneller of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; little sister and best buddy, Shirley (Robert) Durell of Evansville, Ind.; brother, Wayne (Shirley) Courtney of Corvallis, OR; sister-in-law, Wilma Courtney of Washington, Ind.; two nephews; and three nieces. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn (Waugh) Courtney; brother, Rex Courtney; and grandson, Steven Archer. Funeral Service will be at 1:00pm on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling two hours prior. Burial at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to National Kidney Foundation of Indiana or to Honor Flight Northeast Indiana.
