Hi Momma, the year has come and gone and I have missed you every day. Dad too. We were so blessed to have you in our lives as long as we did. We have two more great gandbabies on the way to join our family. Emilie and Tim just announced they are expecting in the spring. Andrew and Kate are naming their little girl Miriam Ada. There was a little hole in the quilt you made Andrew so I found an applique butterfly to cover it up. Andrew was touched to find that I still had it and they both will love having it to wrap their little one in. I guess I will have to be the cheek pincher in your abscence. Andrew found such a lovely gal to marry. You would have Really enjoyed her Mom. Anna, well she is finding her way in the world. Me I am well and happy. Your last gift to us girls is such a blessing. We are all going to be in France next year to honor you Dad. I wonder what you would think of all of this. Well I don't know how long this will be here so I thought I would write this last letter to you both. Miss you and Love you so very much. Your daughter Joanne

Dear Momma, Happy Birthday to you!!! Hugs and Kisses. Wish you were here with us. Last night I celebrated your Birthday and Anna's birthday with Anna. We had roast pork and mashed potatos and green beans. Instead of a cake we just had ice cream in your honor. I gave Anna a locket with a pink and blue butterfly on the outside. On the inside I put a lock of your hair and a picture of you so that you and Anna can celebrate your birthdays together forever. Love you and miss you so very very much. You were so manythings to me besides a mother, the best part is you were my best friend. I miss your hugs, I miss laughing with you. Pricilla and Penelope miss you too!! XOXO Joanne

Thinking of all of you. "Grandma" Doris as I always called her was a true inspiration and a blessing to know. She always knew how to make everyone laugh. She had a true gift for that. My family will miss her dearly.

I remember the "sparkle" in Doris that I so looked forward to, every week, whenever I beautified her in my salon. I will always remember her bright blue eyes and beautiful smile. I have to recall the "great laughter", as she described for months later...I was shampooing her hair, had the sprayer hose at the nice, warm temperature (which she loved), left the hose resting in my shampoo bowl...then all of a sudden the hose rose up and sprayed both of us! I tried to latch on to it, but I couldn't at the moment. Doris broke out in such laughter and I was just trying to control the situation. Finally, I was able to stop the terrific spray of water. Doris was still laughing and then I followed her. We laughed until we had tears in our eyes. She never, ever forgot that, as that was, the "great laughter".
She so many times talked so lovingly about her family. I know how loving all of her children were, as she told me and I observed all the special moments they shared with her, in the beauty salon.
My most sincere condolences to Anita, Nancy, Joanne and Francine. And too, all of her family.
She will always hold a special place in my heart.
