Dorothy C. Burhop, 103, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday September 7, 2014, at her home. Born on September 18, 1910, in Laketon, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Laura Colvin. A member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, she was a proud homemaker and former co-owner of New Haven Bakery.
Dorothy is survived by her son, William (Carolyn) North; step-son, William J. Burhop; step-daughters, Judith Duerk-Habeck and Cynthia Lou (John) McKay; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Chalmer North and second husband Waldemar Burhop; son, Jack North; great-grandson, Matthew; and four siblings.
Funeral service will be 1:30pm Thursday September 11, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8811 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 4 to 7 pm, Wednesday September 10, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Entombment will be in Concordia Cemetery Gardens. Memorial donations may be given to Concordia Lutheran High School or Ascension Lutheran Church
