Obituary of Edward Eugene "Ed" Kiningham
Edward Eugene "Ed" Kiningham, 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019. He was born in Danville, Illinois on September 12, 1930 to the late Clare Kiningham and Reba Brown Kiningham. Ed graduated from Danville High School in 1948 and University of Illinois in 1952 with a Bachelors degree in electrical engineering. He worked for General Electric from 1952 to 1992. He served 2 years in the US Air Force from 1954 to 1956. Ed married Elizabeth "Betty" Lea (Caldwell) Kiningham on November 2nd, 1956 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Ed and Betty volunteered with the Red Cross for 10 years after he retired. Ed also volunteered through General Electric to repair talking books for the blind. Ed had a great love for history and would be found reading many historical books especially ones related to World War II. Ed also became a follower of Christ and was very faithful in his reading of the Bible and in attending and serving in the various churches they attended through the years. Ed is survived by his wife, Betty, son Thomas Edward (Susan) of Corydon, Indiana; son David Allen (Mary) of Fort Wayne; son Paul Byron (Mary Ann) of Roanoke, Indiana; daughter Ann Elizabeth Phillips (Ricky) of Fulton, Missouri; and son John Michael (Rachel) of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by brother Thomas Clare Kiningham of Danville, Illinois. Proceeding him in death are his parents. He was blessed with 17 grandkids, Mary Beth (Chris) Wood, Jonathan, Julia (Jack) Giannini, Clay (Anna Belle), Daniel, Rachel (Dan) Schwartz, Kyle (Michelle), Alan (Leslie), Sarah, Hannah , Martha (Trace) Shroyer, Grant, Nathan, Caleb, Seth, Ashley and Levi; 5 great grandchildren, Jude Wood, Owen Wood, Lila Wood, Gloria, and Kyden. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home with visitation at 1:00 PM. He will be buried in Lindenwood Cemetery at 9 AM on Monday, March 25, 2019, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Cross, Grabill Missionary Church or Vertical Life Church in Houston, Texas.
