Eileen Edith Edna Borchelt Felton

Eileen E. (Borchelt) Felton, 90, met Jesus at the gates of her heavenly home on Monday, June 29. Born in Ft. Wayne on January 25, 1925, Eileen graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in 1943 and Valparaiso University in 1948. In 1949 Eileen married Rev. Charles Felton at Zion Lutheran Church, Ft. Wayne, and together Chuck & Eileen served churches in Utica, SD; Watsonville, CA; Portland, OR; Richmond, CA; and SouthBend, IN. Eileen spent time as a high school teacher, a substitute teacher and then as an assistant in the out-patient surgery department at St. Joe Hospital, South Bend, retiring in 1989. Eileen enjoyed singing in the church choir and teaching Sunday School, as well as entertaining family and friends in their great room at the Middleboro house. Eileen is survived by sons Paul (Elizabeth) Felton of St. Louis, David Felton of South Bend, Steven (Faith) Felton of Ft. Wayne, brother Kenneth (Lois), sister-in-law Reta Borchelt, sisters Martha (Don) Bielke and Carolyn (Roger) Macke, and grandchildren Kyle (Rachel), Isaiah, Samuel, Ezekiel, Charity and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Charles, daughter Sandra Felton-Roberts, brothers Raymond, Wallace and Donald Borchelt, sister Lucille Downey and parents Waldemar & Hilda Borchelt. Visitation is Thursday, July 2nd from 5-8 PM at Hockemeyer Funeral Home, St. Joe Rd. Service will be at 1:00 PM Friday, July 3rd at the Lutheran Life Villages Chapel, 6701 S. Anthony Blvd., with visitation 1 hour prior. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran High School, Ft. Wayne, IN; Valparaiso University in care of the Sandra Felton-Roberts Scholarship Fund, Valparaiso, IN or donor’s choice.
