Evelyn blessed me in many ways since I interviewed her about her World War II service in the Coast Guard a few years ago. She loved working at the Coast Guard Academy as a secretary. I never met a female so proud of her military service! Her story in my book, We Gave Our Best: American WWII Veterans Tell Their Stories, was a great addition. She wrote me many notes with beautiful handwriting, all of which I kept. The latest, inside a Christmas card, arrived just days before her death. I will always cherish her encouraging and appreciative words. God bless your family as you cope with your loss of this great lady.

Thinking of you in your time of grief. If I remember correctly your mother was quite a character. Hopefully those thoughts will help you endure.

Evelyn was a long time friend of mine when I was a pharmaceutical rep and called on the Aiken Clinic where she was a long time receptionist. After retirement I became involved with Honor Flight and she became one of our biggest supporters. We were proud to have her accompany us on a flight in 2011. She was a proud WWII veteran and never failed to attend the Memorial Day and Veterans Day parades along Parnell Avenue. The Honor Flight family will miss you very much Evie because you were so loyal to us.

Evelyn, was my grandmas, Charlotte Glassley, dear friend and a very close friend of our family. I remember getting to spend time with her at the lake when she would visit my grandma. We would go swimming and do puzzles. She was one of the sweetest people I've ever met. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family during this difficult time.
