

HELEN ARLENE PANCAKE, 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 at Heritage Park. Born on June 4, 1926 in Lonetree, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary Jane (Titus) Strickler. On Dec. 28, 1979, Helen married the love of her life, the late Carl Pancake, and began a life and family together. She was an Office Analyst at International Harvester for 31 years; from which she retired. Helen was deep in her Christian faith and was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the PEO Women's organization, Northern Notes, and the Red Hats. Helen enjoyed volunteering at the gift shop at Parkview Memorial Hospital and volunteering at her church. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Gary Hort) Hoover of Fort Wayne; son, William (Kathy) Rickord of Springfield, Ohio; stepdaughter, Carla (Ron) Young of Van Wert, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Georgia Bertke of Fort Recovery, Ohio. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Hazelwood; and sisters, Norma Moore and Cleta Schaadt. A memorial service is 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2015 at New Haven United Methodist Church, 630 Lincoln Highway East, New Haven, with calling one hour prior. Inurnment at Decatur Cemetery.
