James E. Simpson, 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Bethlehem Woods. Born January 20, 1930, he was a son of the late Everett and Glenna (Balyeat) Simpson. A graduate of Central High School, James retired from Zollner Piston after 32 years. He was a member of Faith Baptist church for nearly 20 years. He enjoyed fast pitch softball and gardening. He is survived by his children, Lawrence (Stephanie) Simpson of Milton, Fla., Kathy Fromm of Fort Wayne, Cheryl (Larry) Karbach of Fort Wayne, and Diane (Dave) Kester of Columbia City; daughter-in-law, Kelly Simpson of Fort Wayne; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and siblings, Paul Simpson of Tucson, AZ, Ruthie Dixie of Winston-Salem, N.C, and Janice McDonald of Allison, Colo. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Simpson; son, Robert Simpson; and siblings, Richard and Donald Simpson, Madelyn Hartzell, and Karen Simpson. Funeral Service will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be from 2-4 & 6-8pm on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the funeral home. Burial at Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
