Judith L. Herstad

Judith L. Herstad, 86, of Fort Wayne passed away October 20, 2024 at Coventry Meadows in Fort Wayne. Judie was born October 19, 1938 in Fort Wayne to Marion and Rosemary (Stucky) Daugherty. She married James Daniel Herstad; he preceded her in death in 2016. Judie enjoyed her travels to Alaska, Florida and Hawaii but also liked camping, fishing, living at the lake, shopping and eating out. She loved attending the grandchildren’s sporting events. One of her favorite things was calling the grandchildren, singing them happy birthday and bringing them gifts. She loved animals, especially dogs and cats. She is survived by a daughter, Roxanne Jacobs; step sons, Dan (Joyce) Herstad, Mike (Tammy) Herstad; step daughters, Peggy (Ed) Bransfield, Chris (Jeff) Tipton; 18 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brothers, Bob (Pat) Heintzelman and Bill Daugherty. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James; children, Bill, Randy, Cynthia, Jamie and a brother, Bud Heintzelman. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne, 46835; Pastor Matthew Gillion will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park following the services. Memorials can be made to Animal House Sanctuary in Huntington, IN.
