

Larry L. Kem, 74, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014, at his home, with his family by his side. Born on March 1, 1939, he was a son of the late Gerald & Katherine Kem. He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, and retired from All-Rite Distributing. “Larry was a very active man, he played racquetball weekly and golfed in the summer. He and his companion Brenda would take many last minute trips during the weekends, besides his friendships, especially with Brenda, Larry loved his family, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his most joy.” He is survived by his companion, Brenda Abbott; daughters, Carrie (Kent) Rice and Dawn Widdifield, both of Fort Wayne; sons, Mark (Diana) Kem, of Phoenix, AZ, Shawn (Kimberly) Kem, of Spencerville and Kyle (Bonnie) Kem, of Cypress, TX; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife Sharon E. Kem, in 2003. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 28, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior, Fr. Andrew Budzinski officiating. Calling will also be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, Monday January 27, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with a Rosary service at 3:30PM. Memorial donations may be given to St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, Fort Wayne, or Cancer Services of NE Indiana.
