MARY P. FOGWELL KORTE HELMKE, 91, formerly of Wood burn, died on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012. Born June 7, 1921, in Huntington County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude Fogwell. She married Helmut Korte in 1944; he died in 1954. She then married Roland Helmke in 1958; he died in 2007. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed doing crafts and making Halloween costumes for her children. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Bull Rapids, Jolly two Dozen Ladies Club and a card club. Surviving are her children, Judy (Lester) Rekeweg, Jay (Beverly) Korte, Diane Korte, Todd (Kathy) Helmke, and Jackie (Edwards) Runyan; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, jean (Rinehart) Hively; and brothers, Merritt and Carroll Fogwell. She was also preceded in death by a twin sister, Marthe Imel. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, with calling one hour prior. Burial in Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery, Woodburn. Preferred memorials to RestCare Adult Day Center.
