Mildred M. Smith

Mildred M. Smith, 98, of Fort Wayne, passed away on December 30, 2015. Born on March 28, 1917, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Edward E. and Marie A. (Ortel) Hensch. A member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, she was a 1935 graduate of South Side High School; a charter member of the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory; a member of Audiences Unlimited for more than 35 years; and a member of the Fort Wayne Garden Club.

She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn M. Cocklin and Barbara J. (Bill) Niemeyer; grandchildren, Rick (Teri) Cocklin, Michael (Ann) Cocklin, William (Michelle) Niemeyer and Kenneth Niemeyer; great-grandchildren, Nicole, Laura and Rylee Cocklin and Aiden Niemeyer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Smith; brother, Paul Hensch; and grandson, David C. Cocklin.

Funeral service will be 12pm Tuesday, January 5, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Cresent Ave. Fort Wayne, with calling from 9:30am until time of service. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorial donations may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Worship for shut-ins or Audiences Unlimited.
