Nicholas D Wells, 33, of Garrett, passed away on April 28, 2018. Born on September 14, 1984 in Fort Wayne, he was the son of David L. and Jeanette H. (Knueve) Wells, of Fort Wayne, who survive. A graduate of Woodlan HS and IPFW, he was a manufacturing engineer at Hendrickson Suspension in Kendallville for the past 9 years. Nick was a giving and loyal son, brother and friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Often the loudest voice in a room, he never seemed to meet a stranger. He loved the outdoors, craft breweries, canoe trips, four-wheeling and spending time with his family and friends.

He is also survived by his sister, Leigh Wells; grandmothers, Yvonne Riley, and Peggy Springer; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be 3pm, Saturday, May 5, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 8811 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior to service. Dear Wells family,
I am so sorry for the loss of Nick. I worked with him at Hendrickson and he was one of my favorite people. He was always smiling, optimistic and fun to talk with. I remember how excited he was when he bought his house, the plans he had for it and what he was doing to make it his own place. He mentioned one day that he needed firewood and I told him my husband and I had a tree that had fallen during a storm if he wanted the wood. He said sure he would do it, no problem. I told him that if he cut it for us, we would feed him and his friend, but when they were finished they wouldn't take a meal or money for all their hard work. I think he just had fun doing it. He was a super, special young man. I know you will miss him terribly. I pray God will give you His comfort.

My heart aches for the loss you are feeling. The moment I met Nick with that wide smile of his, he was something special.
We know not why God wants our children back, but there is a purpose I am told. Hold onto the memories of Nick. For anyone who met Nick was a better person and friend.
My Prayers are with the whole Family.
