

NORMAN K. "JIM" PERL, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014. Born Aug. 4, 1923, in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Oscar and Ora (Miller) Perl. He worked for DANA as an inspector for over 38 years before retiring in 1986. Jim was a charter member at Gethsemane Lutheran Church since 1957. He was also part of the XYV Club at Gethsemane Lutheran Church. Jim loved IU basketball and enjoyed history; particularly World War II history. "Jim's greatest treasures were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed." He is survived by his daughters, Loree J. (Perl) Stidham of Fort Wayne and Amy L. (Perl) Roberts of Brandon, Fla.; son, James M. (Susan) Perl of Bear Lake, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Perl; and brothers, Thurman Perl and Byron Hall. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 6606 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at the church. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
